Project Manager, Singapore Membrane Consortium (SG MEM)

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing the project management framework and protocols to deliver strategic execution of SG MEM-led initiatives, while leading the research efforts to broaden membrane technology applications to multiple domains. This role also entails leading the analyst team and growing their capabilities to support SG MEM-led proposals, projects and initiatives. Requisites for this position are exemplary project delivery track records, strategic and business planning skillsets, and people management experience. Proficient strategic planners and executors who are self-driven and adopts a hands-on approach, who can inspire and lead others, with strong integrity and accountability mindsets are desired.


Project Management

  • Strategy: Assess projects business case alignment, initiate project based on needs & readiness assessment.

  • Execution: Accountable for the planning, execution, monitoring, control, reporting and closeout of SG MEM-led proposals, initiatives and projects.

  • Governance: Develop framework for project management of Seed Fund proposal, as well as research and/or industry collaboration projects based off established Project Management standards and methodology, covering institution policies, legal and IP guidelines, stage gate reviews criteria and processes, stakeholder & accountability map etc.

  • Provide leadership-level support at SG MEM and partner events, as needed.

Research Management

  • Lead and manage the consortium’s research efforts on membrane technologies, as well as membrane-related needs across a multitude of domains such as Bio-medical, Pharmaceutical, Oil and Gas, CO2 and the Environment, Food and Beverage etc.

  • Develop and maintain a live document on membrane technologies, mapped along various domains, variables, trends and time horizons.

  • Accountable for the due diligence and validation of SG MEM publications on membrane applications and adoption roadmap for specific domains and/or technologies.

People Management

  • Lead and manage a team of Project Analysts, from identifying research topics, to ensuring that the findings, analysis and reports generated are validated, to building proposal/projects arising from the research outcomes.

  • Develop and grow the capabilities of the Analyst team to support SG MEM-led proposal/project activities.


  • Degree in Engineering/Science

  • PMP or equivalent certification is advantageous

  • Proven track record in delivering projects successfully, and consistently exceeding standard project metrices

  • Meticulous planner with innate stakeholder management and influencing skills

  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience, with at least 2 years of people management (direct or matrix reports)

  • Experienced with business case analysis and crafting project proposals

  • Preferred experience in membranes, chemistry and/or materials technology

  • Proven leadership traits, integrity and accountability mindset is essential
