Project Engineer, Separation Technologies Applied Research and Translation Centre [NTUitive] – R00007822

The Project Engineer is responsible for executing whole or assigned parts of translation projects related to membrane fabrication, module fabrication and system level validation of locally and globally sourced novel membrane technologies using in-house pilot test equipment and large-scale external pilot validation platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist project in-charge to execute assigned tasks in membrane translation operations, maintenance of membrane fabrication equipment and membrane module design and fabrication from small scale 2-inch modules up to 8 -inch industrial scale modules.

  • Operation of in-house pilot system to evaluate the performance of membrane modules of new technologies including test protocol preparation and process parameter optimization before integration into large scale external pilots.

  • Transfer in-house pilot’s operation, data collection and reporting method to on-field pilot systems leading to technology evaluation on the integrated demonstration plant.

  • Assist project in-charge and engineering manager in sourcing components for scaling up of selected membrane technologies to pilot systems.

  • Support and contribute to discussions leading to engineering design and system process flow finalization for pilot operations.

  • Stay abreast with state-of-art developments in water treatment technologies.

  • Prepare, operationalize, and maintain SOP’s pertaining to membrane processes.

  • Train and educate junior staff in matters related to membrane technology and water treatment operations.

  • Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) Regulations.

  • Present regular project progress review to senior management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering (Materials/Mechanical/Chemical/Environmental)

  • Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. At least 2 years of experience in membrane technology, process operations and optimization is an advantage.

  • Experience in membrane fabrication processes e.g., flat sheet and hollow fiber and/or other types of membranes is an advantage)

  • Good knowledge of water treatment systems based on polymeric and ceramic membrane technologies.

  • Experience in processing and communicating P&ID’s for pilot systems related to water treatment and other separation process applications.
