Membrane Engineer, Separation Technologies Applied Research and Translation Centre [NTUitive] – R00012891

START Centre (NTUitive Pte Ltd) is looking for a Membrane Engineer responsible for carrying out daily operation, testing of membranes and modules, polymer dope organic chemical preparations, assay testing to optimize formulations and supporting maintenance and trouble-shooting of the membrane/module manufacturing and membrane testing equipment. This is a newly created role for a new project. The potential candidate will report to the senior project engineer and support the project team in executing translation projects in collaboration with IHL’s and industry.

 

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assist in the operation of wet chemistry laboratory e.g., chemical mixing, polymer dope preparation, analytical testing of gas separation membranes and laboratory upkeep.
  • Work with a team of engineers and chemists to streamline membrane scale-up process.
  • Support and execute preventive maintenance procedures for assigned equipment, in accordance with equipment requirements as recommended by vendors / suppliers.
  • Support procurement of parts and/or securing of services for preventive or breakdown maintenance works where applicable.
  • Assist sampling and analysis of the gas samples from internal and external pilot testing, data collection and preparation of documents e.g., SOP and HSE protocols.
  • Uphold strict compliance with Environment, Safety and Health regulations.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. Relevant experience in polymer chemistry and/or gas separation membranes technology is an advantage.
  • Trained in or familiar with health, safety and environment (HSE) practices/protocols, e.g. safety risk assessment, LOTO etc.
  • Trained in or familiar with organic chemical preparations.
  • Experience with analytical instruments such as but not limited to GC, HPLC, TOC, UV-Vis, FESEM, Optical Microscopy.
  • Good communication, oral and written skills.
  • Self-initiative, highly motivated, self-starter with ability to perform duties independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to liaise with contractors and vendors for maintenance work.

 

Appointment may vary and will commensurate with candidate’s years of working experience.
